"Adaptive System Architecture" !
The working group deals with the architecture of adaptive ("intelligent") information processing systems. Usually, the desired functions are directly programmed into a system - but this is not always possible. It is much more efficient to give the system the possibility to adapt itself to its environment optimally.
A simple example for this is a thermostat for heating - it allows us to leave the heating system on its own without the necessity to regulate the heating all the time.
|Many systems are not thinkable without a sensoring system and an adaptive control, for instance the high speed reactive landing system of the space shuttle.|
All mechanisms which may perform „learning“ in a system are interesting for us and subject to teaching and research.
